The advantages of listing with Tecnet
More and more companies are providing specialised
sites on the net which act as a switching station, in other words, they provide a one-stop
shop for similar web sites. This is the function of Tecnet. Companies with web sites
(whether designed by Tecnet or not) pay a modest fee of R850,00 per year to link through
to one central point (Tecnet) where the emphasis is on providing an easy-to-use framework
for industry and, more importantly, on getting as many users to the site as possible.
How is Tecnet publicised?
Tecnet has been developed by Technical Application
Software (TAS), a specialist engineering software company. Extensive publicity is
given to Tecnet leading to a monthly hit rate of 162 303 in just over a year.
- Tecnet has also been endorsed by over 35
institutions/associations including SEIFSA, SAIMechE. SAIEE and SASSDA. Each of these
bodies plays a big part in publicising Tecnet among their members.
- Tecnet also pays an American company an annual
fee to make sure that the name "Tecnet" appears on all the major search engines
throughout the year.
- But, most importantly. Tecnet has been chosen as
the "Exclusive Industry, Mining, Engineering and Manufacturing directory" for
Ananzi.
The Audit Bureau of Internet Standards (Abis) made the following statement in the
Business Day, 28 August 2001, "The biggest growth in traffic was recorded by online
search engine Ananzi, up 214% on the year before to 6,2 million page impressions."
Why go it alone?
It costs an individual company a lot of money to
publicise a web site. It is not just a case of putting the web site address on business
cards and letterheads. Much more effort has to be spent on getting the right traffic to
your site.
